A group of dedicated and experienced teaching staff, in conjunction with the Professional Learning and Staff Development Team, are collaborating to pilot an ‘Open for Observation’ program in Session 2.

Observe teaching in action

Teaching staff will have the opportunity to attend a ‘live’ class and observe another MQ colleague in action:

  • see their teaching practices and techniques;
  • learn about the tools and technologies they use;
  • connect with colleagues within and beyond your discipline;
  • gain a contemporary student perspective to inform your own teaching.

How will the ‘Open for Observation’ program work?

Below are details of classes that are open for observation. The range of class types includes tutorials, seminars, lectures and workshops. If you are interested, you can book in to attend as an observer. You will then be sent the relevant Zoom link and any other relevant information for that class.

You’ll be in the class with the students, just observing though, not participating or interacting with students yourself. As an observer, you will be provided with a guided Reflection Sheet to record your observations with prompts that will focus on capturing practices and techniques that you may wish to explore for your own teaching development.

It’s a great opportunity to get another perspective on teaching and to reflect afterwards on your own teaching practice.

Timetable of classes available for observation in Session 2 2021 (22nd September- 3rd November only)

If you are interested in observing one of these classes, please click on the relevant link to see details of the dates and times of classes and to book.
